Easy Baked Apples
The warm, cinnamon-spiced aroma of these baked apples always brings back fond memories of my childhood. My siblings and I often had sleepovers at my Grandma’s house, and one of her favorite treats to make us was this simple yet flavorful recipe. Sometimes, we enjoyed them alongside a pork chop dinner, while other times, we turned them into dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and chopped walnuts or pecans. No matter how they were served, the comforting scent and delicious taste made them a special sweet treat we always looked forward to.

Ingredients To Make Baked Apples
- 4-5 apples (about 4 cups) peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes, we used honey crisp apples
- 3 Tablespoons butter
- 1 ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ TBSP brown sugar
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1 tsp lemon juice
If you don’t have one, I recommend getting an apple corer, they make preparing this dish and other apple centered dishes like apple pie and apple cobblers much faster! A sharp paring knife will get the job done though.

How To Make The Baked Apple Recipe
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Place apples in a small baking dish ( I used an 8×11 or 2 quart dish).
- Melt butter in a small bowl.
- Add cinnamon, brown sugar, salt and lemon juice to the melted butter.
- Whisk together until smooth. Pour over apples. Mix until all apples are covered.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until tender, depending on desired doneness. We like a tiny bite in them still 🙂 Bake times will vary based on your oven and preferences.

Our Favorite Apple Varieties:
The best apple varieties for baked apples are firm and hold their shape well while baking. Here are some great options:
- Honeycrisp
- Granny Smith
- Fuji
- Jonagold
- Braeburn
- Pink Lady
These varieties ensure your baked apples stay tender without turning mushy! Stay away from apples like Red Delicious, McIntosh and Gala as they tend to get mushy after baking.
