Here in Northeastern Pennsylvania the weather has finally started to transition from Summer to Fall and we couldn’t be more excited! The leaves are already starting to change colors and pumpkins and all things pumpkin spice are popping up everywhere! One of our favorite fall traditions is to head to our local cider mill and pumpkin patch to pick up some delicious apple cider! There is just something about that first gallon of apple cider right? I decided to try out a mulled apple cider and I am so glad I did! Not only was this a delicious warm drink that we enjoyed but it made my home smell like fall all.day.long!
Slow Cooker Mulled Apple Cider
- 1 gallon Apple Cider
- 1 orange , sliced
- 3-5 cinnamon sticks , depending on your likeness
- 1/4 tsp . ground nutmeg
- 5-6 whole coves
- 5-6 whole allspice
- Pour apple cider in slow cooker. Place orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and spices on top. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. Serve hot.
- * I did not add any sugar to my recipe but you can add some if you like your apple cider sweeter. Just stir until dissolved.
This slow cooker mulled apple cider is such a great drink to serve for a small fall gathering. With a few simple desserts and pretty decor, the colors and flavors of fall will easily take over your home 🙂
When decorating for a small gathering I like to keep things simple. For my table I started with a burlap runner and then topped it with some pretty greenery, candles and a fun yellow pop of color. I also used apples and pumpkins which brings the fall theme to life and adds fun cozy element to the table.
We decided to serve a few of our favorite fall desserts and these Salted Caramel Chocolate Covered Berries from Shari’s Berries were perfect for our fall spread! They were a mix of sweet and salty. We had a variety of dark chocolate and milk chocolate, which was great because my husband loves the dark and I prefer the milk 🙂
While we were at our local cider mill we also picked up some of our favorite apple cider donuts!
I had personally never tried a slow cooker mulled apple cider before I made this recipe. I was a little hesitant since I love apple cider just the way it is but this really was a fun and different way to enjoy a fall favorite beverage.
