Peaches & Cream Oatmeal: a hearty breakfast filled with fresh peaches, cinnamon, and a dash of cream.
Peaches & Cream Oatmeal
Growing up I never used to enjoy eating breakfast but now I can’t go a day without it. During the week our mornings are a bit busier so we don’t usually have to time to sit down and enjoy a full breakfast so we tend to keep it simple! This peaches and cream oatmeal is such a delicious and hearty breakfast option. My youngest son is always asking for a bowl of oatmeal and we love trying different flavor options. This oatmeal is filled with cinnamon, fresh peaches, and a touch of cream.
Can you use canned peaches?
Yes! If you are using canned peaches I would just add them after you have microwaved your oatmeal. If you cook them in the oats they will get too mushy.
What kind of oats should I use?
I prefer to use old fashioned oats/rolled oats as they are heartier and have been processed less than instant oats. However, if you prefer instant you can use those as well. You may just need to adjust the cook time.
How to make Peaches & Cream Oatmeal
- In a large microwave safe bowl, combine oats, milk, water, sugar, salt, and cinnamon.
- Mix in all but a small amount of peaches in the oat mixture.
- Microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes. (Time will vary with microwaves) Watch carefully. I stir the oatmeal half way between cooking time so it doesn’t “explode” or overflow in the microwave.
- Remove from microwave and stir in vanilla.
- Top with remaining diced peaches.
- Drizzle cream or half-n-half or cream on top. Serve immediately.
