American Flag Fruit Tray
Fourth of July is one of my favorite holidays. I love the atmosphere of a day all about our love for our country and celebrating our independence. Of course the parades, picnics and fireworks help too! 🙂 This summer season serve up this refreshing, delicious and SIMPLE American flag fruit tray.
This tray is a perfect treat for both adults and kids alike. Using fresh seasonal berries helps keep this a budget friendly dish to bring for a large gathering.
American Flag Fruit Tray Ingredients
- 2 cups mini pretzels
- 2 cups melting chocolate
- white sprinkles
- 2 pints blueberries
- 1 pint raspberries
- 2lbs strawberries (cut)
- 2 cups mini marshmallows
First you will want to wash your berries and allow them to dry completely before placing them on the tray. Slice your strawberries. I kept my raspberries whole.
To add a little sweet bite to the dish we decided to do add some mini marshmallows and make some white chocolate covered pretzels. You can always buy already made white chocolate covered pretzels but we wanted to add some pretty white sprinkles to ours just to add a look of texture and fun. Melt your white chocolate candy melts according to the package directions. Dip pretzels in melted chocolate until fully covered. Place on a piece of parchment paper lined baking dish and sprinkle with white sprinkles, if desired. Allow chocolate to fully set before placing on tray. I like to place my pretzels in the refrigerator for a few minutes to speed up the process.
To keep your berries fresh and cool in the summer heat, you can add water to the bottom of another same size baking sheet. Just fill the tray enough to cover the bottom. Place baking sheet in the freezer for an hour or so to form a layer of ice on the bottom. Place your treat filled baking tray on the other ice covered tray to keep them cool for a bit longer than the summer heat wants to 🙂
