- blue, green, red, and yellow cardstock or construction paper

Add a bit of fun to your light bulb cards using crayons or markers to decorate them. Washable paints are also great options.
How to Make a Christmas Lights Card
Making this simple card is pretty easy! Just follow these step-by-step instructions, and you’ll have a sweet card in no time. Make one or dozens depending on who you plan to give them to. We like to make a bunch of them to have on hand when things come up. Loved ones will enjoy receiving these over the holidays.
- Begin by cutting out your template pieces. While cutting out the lights, fold the colored piece of paper in half. Place the template on the folded side. Only a small piece needs to touch. Trace and cut it out so you can open it into a card.
- Draw soft yellow lines on the yellow pieces. Add highlight to the colored bulbs with a white colored pencil or white paint pen.
- Add the cheeks using the bright pink paint pen.
- Glue on googly eyes, add a smile or smirk, and you’re all set.
Write a nice note or MERRY CHRISTMAS inside your card and give them to friends and family.
Other Uses for the Christmas Lights Card
If you don’t want to gift these as cards, attach them to canvas or posterboard for adorable canvas prints and decorations. Make a string of them to drape across your fireplace or a windowpane.
They make great home decor the whole family can enjoy; make your own set of lights to decorate a bulletin board, fridge, window, and more. While they are intended to be cards, they can be anything you wish.
These also make great event cards if you are hosting a holiday event. Make a batch of them and present cards to guests as they leave. It’s a nice way to say thank you for coming.
Holiday Wishes for the Inside of the Christmas Light Bulbs
As you make your card, consider some of these sayings for the inside of the card. Of course, you can write your own personal message, but sometimes I like to get some inspiration! Here are some ideas with a Christmas theme:
- Wishing you a very Merry Christmas
- ‘Tis the season to be jolly!
- Warmest wishes for a Merry Christmas!
- I hope your stocking is stuffed with joy this year, Merry Christmas!
- You light up my life, Happy Holidays!
- Ho! Ho! Ho!
- Hope your Christmas is as wonderful as you are!
- From our family to yours, seasons greetings!
- Warmest thoughts and best wishes
- Naughty or Nice, I hope you have a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year.
- Christmas only comes once a year, but the gift of love keeps on giving.
Saying like this will brighten up someone’s day when they receive your Christmas light bulb cards. Make your own sets of lights to hang around the house with sweet messages, or gift them to everyone you love this year.
I hope you enjoy making these Christmas cards as much as we did. They’re so simple to make, and everyone loves receiving them. I don’t know about you, but I prefer a homemade card over a store-bought one any day. Get the entire family in on the fun, and Happy Holidays!
