Who doesn’t love a Christmas dinosaur?! I came up with this idea as a fun way to create with my son who still LOVES all things dinos. They may not be your traditional holiday decorations, but they make funny Christmas decorations the kids will love. Take a look at how easy these dinos are to make at school, at home, or at a holiday party.

Supplies Needed for the Christmas Dinosaur

As you prepare to make your Christmas Dinosaur craft, you only need a few craft supplies. Don’t worry, they are all simple to find at your local Dollar Tree or Craft store. I have also found them at Walmart.

How to Make Your Christmas Dinosaur

Follow these simple steps to make a cute dinosaur that will look great decorating your home, hanging on your fridge, or even on your tree. You can also watch our How to Video Below for Step by Step Instructions.

  1. Trace and cut out your dinosaur template on colored cardstock. I made a blue dinosaur and a green one, but use any colors you would like.
  2. Place a strip of cardstock behind the dinosaur’s back and draw spikes. Then, cut those out. Glue them onto the dino’s back.
  3. Add spots and sharp white teeth.
  4. Cut out strips of colored cardstock as a scarf.
  5. Use brown cardstock to add antlers or red cardstock to give the dino a Santa hat.
  6. Using green cardstock, cut out a Christmas tree and glue on pom poms to decorate. Have the dinosaur hold the tree. You can also cut out a square to represent a gift the dinosaur can hold. Get creative with what you add to your dinosaur Christmas craft.
  7. Don’t forget to add a googly eye so your dinosaur can see!

  • Free Dinosaur Template FOUND HERE!
  • Cardstock – light and dark green, light and dark blue, red, brown, and white
  • Mini Pom Poms
  • Cotton ball
  • Googly Eyes
  • Scissors
  • Glue
