Last week I had the fun experience of sharing these Oreo Spiders on Baby Center. Check it out HERE! They wanted me to share it over here too! These oreo spiders were inspired by my Oreo Frogs that you may remember. These little guys were such a HUGE hit in blog land and pinterest and I thought what would be more fun for Halloween than some friendly not so hairy oreo spiders! Do you want to make you own? Check out how!
Brown Candy Melts
Following the directions on your bag, melt your candy melts until fully melted. Add a little canola oil if needed to thin. Cover your Oreos in the melted chocolate. Using a fork, pick up your Oreos out of the chocolate and gently tap the side of the bowl to make any extra chocolate “fall off.” Place your chocolate covered Oreos on a cookie sheet layered with wax paper. Carefully, insert desired amount of pretzel sticks into the sides of your Oreos for the spiders legs. Place your candy eye balls on top of the Oreo. When the chocolate on the Oreo is starting to slightly harden take a toothpick and move the chocolate around a little bit to create a “furry” look. Place in refrigerator and chill until fully hardened.
P.S. I am totally aware that spiders have eight legs and mine only have six, but I was afraid adding too many legs would make the inside of the cook come apart….how silly that some people have to point things like that out! 🙂
