Here are the minimal supplies needed for the craft. It’s perfect for older kids as well as younger students. Grab the materials in time for a Sunday School lesson or to work on them at home. I grab my supplies from the Dollar Store or Walmart, but you can also find everything you need online.

Gold is also an option for the marker; it shows up nicely as the wood of the boat. If you don’t want to use our free animal templates, you can also use animal stickers to decorate your boat! Kids will place pairs of animals on the boat as they learn about this great lesson.

How to Make Noah’s Ark Craft

Making this craft is super easy. Just follow the step-by-step instructions below to complete it with your kids. They will love displaying their creations on the walls and bulletin boards and showing them off to loved ones.

  1. Begin by cutting out the template pieces for the boat from your brown paper.
  2. Use a ruler to make straight lines across the peak piece and the bottom of the boat. My lines ended up being about 1/2 inch wide.
  3. Go back and draw more lines in different areas to look like wood paneling. Add a dot on either side of the straight lines to look like nails.
  4. Rip a piece of blue paper and glue to white cardstock to look like water.
  5. Glue boat pieces to cardstock.
  6. Cut out your animal template pieces or color your template pieces and then cut out. Glue to boat in desired spots.

Which Bible Verse Talks About Noah’s Ark?

To complete this craft, you may want to use direct Bible verses. You can find the start of Noah’s life and building the ark in Genesis Chapter 6 Verse 9.

Use this easy Noah’s Ark craft to teach kids the story and encourage them to share it with others. It’s a fun way to get them to retell the story as well. Add it to your educational activities when teaching kids Bible stories. You can also use the story to talk about the colors of the rainbow and what an olive branch means. Discuss different kinds of animals with the kids and ask them what their favorite animal is.

What was the Ark Made From?

The Ark that Noah built was made from gopher wood. (Genesis 6:14) Heavy rains came for 40 days and 40 nights while Noah and his family stayed safe in the Ark with two of each kind of animal. After the rain stopped and the Ark came to land safely in the mountains, Noah sent a dove into the world. When it returned with a small olive branch he knew the waters were receding. God sent a rainbow to Noah and to his children today as a promise to never destroy the whole earth with a flood again.

I hope you enjoy pairing this craft with one of the best-known stories from The Bible. Hopefully your kids have fun retelling the biblical story of Noah and showing off their adorable animals to everyone. I know I loved creating this craft to share with you.
