These jingle bell ornaments are a fun and simple craft both adults and kids can have fun making. You only need a few basic craft supplies that are easy to find, especially around the holidays! Pop in a Christmas movie and make a few festive ornaments as a fun holiday craft!

Materials Needed for Jingle Bell Ball Ornaments

Find all of the materials you need for the ornaments at your local craft store, Dollar Store, or supercenter. The bells and pipe cleaners can also be purchased online. Michaels stores always have a GREAT selection of colored ribbons during the holiday season as well.

I used red, green, and gold (the typical Christmas colors), but these ornaments will also look amazing with bright pinks, muted greens, and your child’s favorite colors!

How to Make DIY Jingle Bell Ornaments

While these DIY ornaments may look complicated, they are very simple. Follow the directions below and use the images to help you piece them together.

  1. To start, crisscross two pipe cleaners and twist them together.
  2. Add jingle bells to each pipe cleaner using the circular opening near the top. You will need 4-5 bells on each arm of the X. Keep adding them until you have a few inches left at the top. Be sure to push the jingle bells down as you go.
  3. Twist all four pipe cleaner ends together to close them and create a small hoop for hanging.
  4. Attach a matching ribbon for some extra color.

If you think your ornaments might get jostled around on the tree by animals or small children, hot glue the ribbon to the top to hold everything in place. This will be one of your favorite decor ornament pieces on the tree and will give the home a lovely festive vibe!

What Size Jingle Bells Do I Need?

The size of bells you use is up to you, but I recommend using the ones that are about 1 inch in size. These will fit well on the pipe cleaners without crowding them too much and without needing to add too many, which can get time consuming and can lose a child’s interest. The smaller the jingle bell, the harder it is to push the pipe cleaner through the opening.

Fun Times to make this simple DIY.

There are many holiday events when kids (and adults) can make fun ornaments. Use this adorable ball ornament craft for any variety of reasons, including:

  • to work on fine motor skills
  • a kid’s classroom celebration
  • during a holiday party in your home
  • at a Christmas celebration or festival
  • while you play your children’s favorite Christmas carol

Pair the activity with a fun holiday book like The Polar Express or any other classic. Younger kids will love the story time and the craft activity afterward.
