How Do I Make a Handprint Ghost?

To make a DIY handprint ghost with your little guys, follow these simple instructions:

  1. First, cut out a handprint shape on your white construction paper or cardstock. I didn’t cut all the way between the fingers, just a simple outline.
  2. Next, add two black dots for your eyes using your black marker or Sharpie. Add a cute little smile as well.
  3. Then, glue on your pink pom poms to look like rosy cheeks.
  4. Make your witch hat using black cardstock. Add a purple glitter stripe around the brim of the hat. Glue the hat to the ghost’s head.

Other things you can add are a bow tie or a hair bow and eyelashes if you would like. Instead of using a marker to draw the eyes, you can also use googly eyes. Those are always a hit with the kids.

How Do You Make a Handprint Ghost with Paint?

Instead of tracing your child’s handprint onto white cardstock, use white paint to create the ghost body. Then use black paint or a black sharpie to draw on the eyes and mouth as usual. You’ll need a paintbrush to apply the white paint to your child’s hand. Then, just press it down on black or darkly colored paper and complete the rest of the craft. Use baby wipes or soap and water to wash the paint off their hand afterward.
