This sun craft is an easy activity kids will love to create! We love to craft with paint. While paint can sometimes be messy, when you have just one element of your project using paint and a fun painting tool- like a plastic fork- you can minimize the mess.
As much as we love to craft simple projects we also love to incorporate different crafting mediums and textures – a fork painted sun is so much more fun when you add paper sunshine rays, a dash of sparkly gold glitter, some googly eyes and pink buttons! Different crafting supplies helps spark imagination and keeps kids interested in the different steps a project might have.

Supplies Needed to Make Fork Painted Sun Craft
- Cardstock (yellow, black and white)
- Plastic Fork *
- Yellow Craft Paint
- Gold Glitter, optional but fun!
- Medium to Large size Googly Eyes
- Pink Buttons
- Yellow Colored Pencil
- Glue
- Scissors
How To Make a Fork Painted Sun
Step 1: Make your Sunshine Base
- Lightly draw a circle with your a pencil.
- Dip your plastic fork into the yellow paint. Press and slightly rock back and forth (like a rocking chair) and pick up. Repeat this process all around the circle until it’s full.
- While your paint is still wet, add a sprinkle of gold glitter to the sun if desired. Let dry completely.
Step 2: Cut out Sunshine Rays and Assemble
- Cut out 8 triangle shaped sunshine rays from yellow paper and one mouth from black paper.
- Begin to glue rays around your sunshine. Use a yellow colored pencil to add more sunshine rays in between the sunshine rays if desired.
- Add your face pieces to your sunshine. (googly eyes, black smile, two pink buttons)
