Christmas Caroler Craft

If you’re looking for a sweet, festive Christmas craft that keeps little hands busy snipping, gluing, coloring, and creating, this Christmas Caroler Craft Collage is such a fun option. With cozy hats, cute mittens, and a simple music page design, kids turn basic shapes into a singing character that matches their personality!

One of my favorite parts of this craft is how much room there is for kids to make it their own. They can decorate their mittens with patterns, add stripes or polka dots to their hats, and choose any colors they love. The collage-style feel adds another layer of creativity. Kids can cut paper strips to make hair, choose their body shape color and glue the pieces together to form their caroler from the ground up. No two turn out the same, and that’s exactly what makes them so special.

This project works well for a wide range of ages, but it’s especially great for early elementary kids who enjoy cutting shapes, personalizing details, and building pictures piece by piece. Whether you’re pulling it out for school, church, art time, or just a cozy afternoon at the kitchen table, it brings such a joyful dose of winter creativity.

And the best part? I included a free printable template with the caroler’s head, hat, mittens, and music page—so your prep is quick, simple, and stress-free.

  • Free Printable Caroler Template (head, hat, mittens, music sheet)

  • Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

How To Make a Christmas Caroler Craft for Kids

Step 1: Color your Template Pieces

  • Using our free caroler template, design and color your mittens and hat.
  • Draw the eyes and smile with a black Sharpie BEFORE coloring the face. It’s much easier to add the facial features first. Once the crayons go on, the waxy surface makes it harder to use the marker.

Step 2: Creating the Body

  • Cut your body piece from your desired color. Glue to the bottom of your black sheet of paper.
  • Glue your head on top.

Step 3: Adding the Hair

  • Cut strips of paper and glue onto and surrounding the head. Let kids have fun creating their favorite hair styles in their choosen color.

Step 4: Add the Final Details

  • Glue your hat on top of your finished head piece.
  • Glue the caroler music and gloves.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

  • Using a white paint pen, draw snowflakes around your caroler. (You can also use snowflake stickers instead!)
