How to Make a Beautiful Flower with Celery

These celery roses are very simple to make. Your kids may be able to rubber band the bottom of the celery with no help, but that may be the only step they need a little assistance with. Follow these step-by-step instructions to make your celery-stamped flowers.

  1. To begin this craft, you will need to cut your celery stalks. You need 3-4 inches of celery stalk to work with. We found it best to use a smaller, thinner stalk of celery.
  2. Once you cut your stalk, if needed, you can wrap the bundle with a rubber band to hold them closer together.
  3. Dab pink paint on your celery cluster. Add bits of orange in different areas.
  4. Stamp it onto your paper. You will need to reapply the paint to make more flower stamps. Rotate the way you hold the cluster each time to make your flowers look a bit different.
  5. To make the leaves, put two stalks together and apply green paint to the ends. Stamp between your flowers to make them look like there are leaves.
  6. Use a thin paintbrush to paint your flower stems leading up to each flower.
  7. Cut a flower pot out of blue construction paper and glue it at the base of the flowers. Add some white lines around the base using your white paint pen.

Once your piece of paper is dry, laminate your pretty bouquets. I love laminating my kid’s work If we are keeping it around. It preserves their work, and it makes it easy to place in their keepsake boxes when I want. Laminating their work is also a great way to create cute gifts for loved ones throughout the year.
