Blueberry Jello Salad is a classic layered dessert that is filled with delicious canned blueberries and topped with a delicious cream layer.
Blueberry Jello Salad
This classic dessert is an oldie but a goodie. This blueberry jello can probably be found in most church cookbooks passed down from generation to generation. I love looking through our church cookbook and trying new recipes and this one is easy to skim over but it is a delicious layered treat for parties, holidays and potluck dinners. Like our ambrosia salad and our cherry coke jello salad this blueberry jello salad can be the perfect way to wrap up a well rounded dinner.
What is Jello Salad?
While the term “salad” may be slightly confusing, jello salad just refers to a recipe or dish with a flavored gelatin that is mixed with fruit. Sometimes a jello salad also has cottage cheese, cream cheese, marshmallows or other add-ins.

What size blueberry pie filling, 21 oz? Also I can only find 20 Oz dole crushed pineapple, can I use a whole can? And all the other recipes I can find use 1 cup sour cream in the topping was the sour cream omitted?
Thanks
Katherine
Katie says
Yes, 21 ounce can of blueberry pie filling is great! You can probably use the whole can of pineapple without issues. If concerned you could remove a small spoonful from the can before adding the rest. I prefer to not use sour cream in our topping (we just prefer the taste without it) but if you wanted to add a cup in like others you sure can!

A standard tub of cool Whip is 8 oz. Do you use 8 oz or 16 oz?
Katie says
I’m so sorry, I use an 8 ounce container.

My mom used to make this when I was growing up, and it’s been way too long since I had it. It is so yummy! I like to use sweetened whipped cream in place of the Cool Whip. Delish!
