Christmas Candlestick
This Christmas Candlestick craft is a meaningful and simple way to teach kids about the true light of the season—Jesus, who came to save us from darkness. This craft combines creativity with Scripture to make a meaningful decoration or gift. With a free template included, it’s simple and fun for kids to make at home, in Sunday School, or during holiday family gatherings.

The Bible verse in this craft, John 12:46, says: “I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness.” At Christmas, we celebrate Jesus coming into the world as a baby—God’s gift of light and love to us all. Just like the candles we see glowing at Christmastime remind us of warmth and joy, this verse reminds us that Jesus brings hope to the world. It’s a simple way to help kids see that Jesus is the real reason we celebrate this holiday season!

How To Make a Christmas Candlestick
Step 1: Print and Cut the Template:
- Download and print the free candlestick template, which includes the candle shape and the verse.
- Cut out the candle pieces from your two reds and yellow/orange paper, and the holly leaves from green paper.

Step 2: Assemble the Candle:
- Glue the candle base (red) to the center of the black cardstock. Attach the dripping wax cutout (lighter red) to the top of the candle. Then, glue the flames above the candle.
- Glue the Bible verse reference to the top of the black cardstock if using.

Step 3: Adding Holly Details:
- Add a white detail to the holly leaves. Arrange and glue the holly leaves at the bottom of the candle. Add three small red pom-poms in the center to represent holly berries.
- Use a white paint pen or marker to add dots around the flame, giving the appearance of glowing light.
- Use a black sharpie to add a line onto the two flame pieces giving a “wick” appearance.

Crafty Tips:
- To match the same colors in the photos we used this Astrobrights paper.
- Don’t have a white paint pen? Feel free to add details to your leaves with a white colored pencil or even a green marker. Add white dots with a toothpick or bottom of a paint brush dipped into white paint.
- Feel free to leave the verse off or write your own Bible verse or Christmas saying.
- Swap the black background for white or even Kraft colored paper.
- Feel free to swap the pom poms for red buttons instead.
- Make whatever color candle you want! The key is to have the drippy wax paper be a shade lighter than your candle paper.
