Glitter Popsicle Frames: a colorful and sparkly popsicle stick frame to show off some of your favorite images.
This post is brought to you by Plaid. All opinions are mine.
If you have been following along for any length of time you know how much I love color and glitter, like my daughters Princess Dress Nightstand Redo and our readers favorite, Confetti Cake Stand. When Plaid sent me one of their newest products, FolkArt® Glitterific™ Acrylic Paint, I was so excited to try it out! What is this dazzling product I’m talking about? Glitterific is made up of glitter particles suspended in a crystal clear base which creates the most dazzling glitter paint. You can use Glitterific on multiple surfaces such as wood, glass, canvas, and fabric, just to name a few. It is a water based paint with an ultra high-gloss effect.
While you can certainly use the Glitterific paint by itself but it looks even more stunning with a base coat such as Color Shift which is what I personally used for these Glitter Popsicle Stick Frames.
Popsicle Stick Frame Supplies:
- Large Popsicle Sticks
- Glitterific Paint
- Color Shift Paint
- Small Popsicle Sticks
- Hot Glue Gun
- Photos or Clipart
First you will want to add a base coat to your popsicle sticks. Color Shift is so pretty and the shimmer and color shifting of this paint makes it the perfect compliment to the Glitterific. I decided to give our frames a rainbow affect of 5 different colors but you can always use just one or two colors if you prefer.
I picked a complimentary Color Shift shade to each Glitterific color I decided to use.
Once the Color Shift painted popsicle sticks are completely dry I used a foam brush to dab on the Glitterific Paint. You don’t really want to paint it on as you will just move the glitter particles around. You can add more and more layers as you go to create a project with as little or as much glitter as you prefer.
Once the Glitterific was dry I turned the popsicle sticks right side facing down in the pattern I wanted. I then hot glued a small popsicle stick across the larger popsicle sticks to ensure they all stayed in place.
We then added one of our favorite vacation pictures and a little clipart to our frames. So colorful and fun right?! Even my boys helped and loved playing with the different Glitterific colors. You can place these in your kids room, on a shelf, or you can even add a magnet to the back for a little refrigerator decoration. I think these would make for great teachers gift or even a happy Mothers Day gift.
No matter what you make or what colors you choose this is such a simple and fun project even the kids can have fun making!
