Haunted House Craft for Kids
Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way to get kids excited than with a “spooky” (yet adorable) Build a Haunted House craft? This free printable activity is the perfect mix of creativity and fun, allowing kids to customize their very own haunted house! You can’t get much easier than coloring, cutting and glueing so whether you’re looking for an engaging Halloween craft for a classroom, a playdate, or a fun family activity, this Build a Haunted House printable will be a hit with little ones.

Materials Needed To Make A Haunted House Craft
- Free Build a House Printable Sheet (see below!)
- Crayons, markers, or colored pencils
- Scissors
- Glue stick or school glue
- Cardstock paper for background – we used black!
- Cardstock paper for “grass” – we used green but this step is optional!
How To Build a Haunted House
Step 1: Print & Color
Print the Template: First, download and print the free Build a Haunted House template. (Grab it up above!)
Color the Pieces: Let kids color their favorite characters! You don’t need to color them all but feel free to if you would like! Encourage kids to use Halloween colors like orange, purple, and black!
Step 2: Build the House
Cut Out the Shapes: Once the coloring is complete, it’s time to work on those fine motor skills by cutting out all the pieces. Younger kids may need help with this step, especially when cutting around the intricate shapes of the bats and mini monsters.
Build the House: Glue the haunted house pieces together to create your scene. You can glue the house onto a black or colored background to make the design pop even more. Before gluing our house down we tore a piece of green paper to make a piece of grass/land. Kids can decide where to place each spooky character — will the ghost be flying through the air or peeking out a window?
