Katie’s Craft Tips
As both a mom of three and an elementary art teacher, I’ve made crafts like this with lots of little hands over the years! Here are a few of my favorite tips to help make your crafting time easier, less messy, and even more fun.

How to Make a Torn Paper Lemonade Craft
Step One:
- Print the lemonade template and cut out all of the pieces using the recommended cardstock colors. We chose blue for the glasses, orange for the straws, and white for the ice cubes and lemon slices. The lemon slices will be decorated with a marker in a later step.
- Tear your pink and yellow paper into small pieces.

Step Two:
- Glue your lemonade glasses onto your cardstock paper. We angled our glasses slightly.
- Glue your two straws behind your glasses.

Step Three:
- Glue your torn pieces of paper inside your glasses.
- Bring your lemon slices to life with a black permanent marker! Outline the curved edge first, then draw five chunky triangle-shaped sections across the lemon slice. These bold shapes give your lemons a fun, cartoon-style look that’s perfect for kids.
- Use a yellow marker to color in the juicy lemon sections and an orange marker to color the outer rind. This simple step really makes the lemons pop!

Step Four:
- Glue your white ice cubes and lemon slices inside of your lemonade glasses.
- If desired, add little doodles like dots and swirls with a glitter pen/marker.

More than Just a Craft:
One of the reasons I love torn paper crafts is because they remind us that art doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful. Every torn piece is a little different, which means every glass of lemonade turns out one of a kind.
As kids tear, glue, and arrange the paper pieces, they’re strengthening the small pincer muscles in their hands, building hand-eye coordination, and practicing patience without even realizing it. Best of all, this simple summer activity gives you a chance to slow down, unplug for a little while, and enjoy creating together. Those are often the moments my kids remember most.
