HOW TO VIDEO:
Materials Needed:
- Black cardstock (for the background)
- White paper (for the marshmallow layer)
- Brown paper (for the chocolate)
- Jumbo craft sticks
- Googly eyes
- Pink paper (for hearts cheeks) we used a bubblegum pink shade
- Black paper (for the smile)
- Glue stick or craft glue
- Scissors (optional—most tearing is done by hand!)

How To Make The Torn Paper S’mores Craft
Step 1: Prepare Your Base
Cut an 8×11 inch piece of black cardstock in half to make it smaller. Work on your project with the paper in horizontal format.
Step 2: Create the Marshmallow Layer
Tear your white paper into small pieces and glue into a rectangle shape to create your marshmallow. Make sure the paper doesn’t go past the length of your popsicle stick. The torn edges give it that soft, fluffy marshmallow look!

Step 3: Add the Melted Chocolate
Tear a piece of brown paper, making it “hilly” or melty looking rather than just one straight tear across. Glue this chocolate layer to the top of your torn paper marshmallow for that perfect melted effect.
Step 4: Assemble the Graham Crackers
Glue your jumbo popsicle sticks on the top and bottom of your marshmallow to represent the graham crackers.

Step 5: Bring Your S’more to Life
Cut small hearts from pink cardstock for rosy cheeks and glue them on. Add googly eyes, eyelashes (if desired) and a black mouth cut from black cardstock to give your s’more a happy face.

Smore’s Craft Tips:
- Let creativity shine! Encourage kids to cut out different smile shapes to give their s’more some personality. Try skinny smiles, big grins, or even oval-shaped mouths to make it look like your s’more is singing a campfire song!
- Want to stretch this craft a little longer? Let kids paint their jumbo craft sticks with light brown acrylic paint before assembling. It’s a simple way to add an extra step, have younger children practice brush control, and make the “graham crackers” look even more realistic!
- Smores Name Craft: Make it a name craft by writing your child’s name across the top graham cracker stick or cutting out square and writing each letter on one square and gluing to the smore.
- Pair this craft with a camping-themed unit and display your students’ smiling s’mores on a colorful bulletin board! It’s a great visual to bring your classroom theme to life and works especially well for kindergarten through lower elementary grades.
