Spring Toilet Paper Roll Crafts

One of my first posts on my blog was a simple and easy Bumblebee Toilet Paper Roll.  It’s actually still live if you want to check out the hideous pictures LOL.  I originally posted them in 2013 so I say it’s about time they got the upgrade they deserve, along with some other friendly springtime critters.  While I love crafting with paint, I enjoy crafting with paper just as much! Paper is readily available in lots of colors and is a less mess approach to making these friendly critters than paint. However, you can certainly use paint as your base for toilet paper crafts.  Each paper roll craft version is simple and fun, you can make all three or just choose your favorite!

All three critters require basic supplies and after a little digging in your craft supplies or junk drawers you may have everything you need to get crafting right now!  Some of the critters use separate supplies and they are listed below.

  • Toilet Paper Rolls/ You could also use two paper towel rolls cut in half, you would have an extra piece.
  • Colored Paper
  • Pipe Cleaners
  • Glue
  • Googly Eyes
  • Sharpie Marker

  1. Begin by cutting a piece of paper the same width as your paper towel roll. Wrap paper roll in paper, secure with glue or tape.
  2. Cut small strips of colored paper.  I made 8 thin strips but you can add more or less, and you can make them as thick or as thin as you want.  Adhere to the center of your butterfly using glue or tape.
  3. Make your wings, I cut out four heart shapes and glued them to the back of my paper roll.
  4. Make pipe cleaner antennas and add them to the top center of the paper roll.
  5. Create a face using googly eyes and a sharpie marker
  6. Add decorative stickers, sequins, or gems on the butterfly wings.
