How To Make a Handprint Koala

Step 1: Preparing your Koala Pieces

Use your koala template to cut out your various koala pieces.  You will have a nose piece, two outer ears, two inner ears, nose piece, and cheeks.

Step 2: Creating the Face

Assemble your inner ears and outer ears. Glue to the backside of your handprint palm ( the palm of the hand will be the koala head). Add your googly eyes, nose and white cheeks to your koala’s face.

Step 3: Adding Personality

3. Add a smile or smirk and eyelashes, if desired, to your koala.

Crafty Tips & Classroom Use:

  1. Feel free to use our pre-made handprint shape for easy crafting! However, if your kids are old enough to trace their own hand this is a perfect way for them to develop and practice their fine motor skills!
  2. Use black paint for the koalas nose or black crayons for another alternative to using black paper.
  3. Cut out some eucalyptus leaves from green cardstock or construction paper and glue to the back or side of your koala as a fun addition to your project.
  4. Let kids use their creativity even further by replacing the googly eyes with hand drawn eyes!
