Kids Handprint Jellyfish Art: celebrate summer with this fun handprint kids craft!

Handprint Art for Kids
Crafting with my kids is one of my favorite things to do. I love watching them create and add personality to their crafts. There is so much learning that happens when a kid makes something. Handprint crafts have been around for years and years but they are still loved by children today as much as they were when our grandparents were doing it. This handprint jelly fish is a fun and simple way to celebrate summer and some fun underwater creatures.

Supplies Needed for Handprint Jellyfish Craft
- 1 12x12in cardstock, in your desired color, we chose a soft blue
- craft paint, your favorite colors
- Sponge Brush
- Sharpie Marker or Colored Pencils
- 1 -2 sheets green construction paper
- Googly eyes
- Craft Glue

DIRECTIONS:
- Using a sponge brush, brush a thin layer of paint on the palm of your child’s hand. Have them press firmly, with their fingers slightly apart on the scrapbooking paper. Lift carefully. Let Dry. Turn the paper 180 degrees so the fingers are pointing downward to act as the jellyfish “tentacles.”
- Cut out small strips of green construction paper to look similar to seaweed. Using craft glue, glue the strips of green construction a paper to the bottom of the scrapbooking paper.
- Glue on googly eyes and draw some jellyfish tentacles with a matching colored pen or colored pencil. You can also add some small bubbles around the jellyfish.

This underwater themed fun activity is perfect for kids of all ages, especially those in preschool and for older school aged children. This project is a fun way to practice some fine motor skills like cutting, holding their coloring utensil correctly, and drawing. This also is a great way to boost some imagination skills all while making this adorable jellyfish handprint craft.
Classroom and Homeschool Use:
- This is perfect activity for “Letter J” day or when discussing their favorite ocean animal.
- Painting hands can be a little tricky, so if desired you can use our free handprint template to pre cut handprints that they can glue to their paper and add details to.
- Don’t forget to grab our free Jellyfish Facts Printable for a fun addition to your Ocean classroom unit!
- Googly eyes can sometimes be a more expensive option when creating this in the classroom. Allow your kids to draw their own silly eyes on their finished jellyfish with sharpies or create their own from white circles and let them add the pupils.
