HOW TO VIDEO:
Materials Needed To Make Popsicle Stick Pencils
- Yellow Popsicle sticks (about 6 per pencil)
- Free Pencil template
- Black, pink, light brown/kraft and gray paper
- Googly eyes
- Black marker
- Glue
- Scissors

How To Make Popsicle Stick Pencils
Step 1: Prepare the Popsicle Sticks
Cut out your necessary template pieces. Glue your yellow popsicle sticks* side by side onto your main pencil piece. Add your black pencil lead to the top.
*If you don’t have pre-colored sticks, you can paint regular wooden Popsicle sticks yellow. Let them dry completely if you do paint them.

Step 2: Create the Pencil Details
Glue your from pink paper and the thin piece of gray paper to separate the eraser from the rest of the pencil. Glue these near the bottom of your yellow sticks.

Step 3: Add Googly Eyes and Smile
Attach two googly eyes to the upper part of the pencil and use a black marker to draw a simple smile below the eyes. This will give your pencil character a cute and friendly face.

Why This Craft is Fantastic:

Boosts Creativity: This project lets kids be creative, choosing where to place the eyes, how big the smile should be, and even adding extra accessories like glasses or a bow.
Develops Fine Motor Skills: Handling small materials like googly eyes and cutting paper shapes are great for developing fine motor skills.
Variation Ideas:
- Colorful Pencils: Use different colored Popsicle sticks or paint them in a variety of hues to make a set of rainbow pencils.
- Different Faces: Let kids make different facial expressions on the pencils. Some could be happy, sad, or even winking!
- Add Messages: Use this craft as a gift by writing special messages on the eraser or add a paper tag and write messages such as “You are sharp!” or “Best teacher ever!”
