Homemade Bookmarks – Favorite Color Crayon Edition
Back to School time is here and what better way to get your kids excited for studying and reading new books in a brand new grade than some fun and colorful bookmarks! These bookmarks are SO easy to make and are a fun activity for at home or in the classroom!
Kids will love getting to make their own bookmark in their favorite color and adding their name for a personalized touch. We added extra protection to our bookmarks by laminating them so they will last all school year. We added a touch of fun flair to our bookmarks and added some tassels- this step is completely optional but so fun!

HOW TO VIDEO:
Materials Needed To Make Crayon Bookmark
- Free Crayon Template
- Colored Cardstock – we used this paper (since we are laminating our crayons, a lighter weight paper works fine!)
- Black Sharpie
- Tassels, optional but so fun!
- Hole Punch, we prefer a Crop A Dile Punch or a heavy duty hole puncher
- Glue Stick
- Scissors
- Self-Laminating Sheets or Laminating Machine

How To Make a Crayon Bookmark
Step 1: Print Template
Print our free crayon template and use to trace and cut out the needed pieces you need to build your crayon. Classic crayons are darker than their wrapper which is what we did for ours.

Step 2: Assemble Crayons
Glue your crayon wrapper piece to your base piece. Make sure to line up your wrapper on your crayon so that it sits at the base of the “tip” of the crayon.

Step 3: Add Line Details
Using your black sharpie add two black lines on either end of the crayon wrapper. We made the outside lines a bit thicker than the inside lines. Have your child write their name and add dots and fun details if they desire.
Place your crayons on a sheet of laminating paper and laminate. You can use a small at home laminator or self laminating sheets – both options work great!

Step 4: Add a Tassel
Cut your crayons out from the laminating sheet making sure you leave a small amount of laminating paper around the crayons.
Hole punch your crayons and add a colorful tassel!
