Igloo Craft

If you’re looking for a fun winter craft that feels a little different than the usual painting and coloring projects, this Stamped Igloo Craft is such a great one to try. It combines stamping, simple line art, and a cozy Arctic scene to create a sweet little igloo craft kids will be proud to show off.

This project works beautifully as an arctic animals craft or winter animal craft and is perfect for January and February when everyone is craving something creative and seasonal. Kids love stamping the “ice blocks” onto their igloo using an old LEGO brick, then adding fluffy snow and cute Arctic animals to bring their scene to life.

The best part? We provide a free printable template for both the igloo shape and the Arctic animals, which makes this winter craft super easy to prep for home or the classroom.

Materials Needed To Make A Stamped Igloo Craft

  • Stamped Igloo Craft Template
  • Cardstock, dark blue (for our background)
  • Cardstock, light blue( for our igloo)
  • White & Black Cardstock (for the snow and entrance for the igloo)
  • Cotton Balls
  • Glue
  • LEGO
  • White Paint
  • Q-Tip

How To Make a Igloo Craft (Stamping with Legos)

Step 1: Print the Template

  • Print the free template that includes the igloo shape and Arctic animals. You can print the igloo on white cardstock for sturdier stamping.

Step 2: Create the Stamped Igloo Texture

  • Pour a small amount of white or light gray paint onto a paper plate.
  • Dip the flat side of your LEGO brick into the paint, then gently stamp it all over the igloo shape. Kids can overlap stamps slightly or space them out to create a brick-like pattern.
  • Set aside to dry completely.

Step 3: Put together your Igloo

  • Glue your two igloo pieces onto a piece of white cardstock, then trim around them using a “sticker cut” (leave a small white border around the edges, like a sticker). Next, glue the black entrance piece onto the small LEGO piece.

Step 4: Assemble the Scene

  • Glue the igloo onto a piece of blue cardstock. Tear a strip of white paper and glue it along the bottom of the page to create snow.
  • Glue your igloo in the middle of the paper. Finally, glue the Arctic animals in front of the igloo opening.
  • Using Q-tips and white paint add dots of snow around the igloo.
  • If desired, add a line of cotton balls to the bottom of the paper to look like snow.

Crafty Tips for Parents & Teachers

  • Let kids test stamping on scrap paper first
  • Use Q-tips or paintbrushes for touch-ups
  • Pre-cut animals for younger kids
  • Add cotton balls for snow texture
