These popsicle stick dragonflies are a whimsical craft that will have your kids buzzing with excitement! With just a few materials and a sprinkle of creativity, you can craft these delightful dragonflies! They are as cute as can be and are as simple as they look! So grab your colored popsicle sticks, pom poms, and googly eyes, and let’s make some dragonflys.
Supplies needed to Make Popsicle Stick Dragonflys
- Colored Popsicle Sticks
- Glitter Paper
- Small Pom Poms
- Mini Googly Eyes
- Pipe Cleaners
How To Make a Popsicle Stick Dragonfly
Step 1: Make Dragonfly Wings
Grab your glitter cardstock and draw wing shapes on the back of your paper and then cut out. We drew two hearts with the points touching and then cut out.
Step 2: Build the Dragonfly Body
Grab your colored popsicle sticks and place on your craft table. Glue 4 pom poms to the top of the popsicle stick. We chose to use a larger pom pom for the head than the body but you can make all four the same
Step 3: Add Tiny Details
Add your mini googly eyes. Cut small pieces of pipe cleaner and glue to the back of the pom pom. We chose to use hot glue (adults only)
Crafty Tips:
- Feel free to swap glitter cardstock for regular solid cardstock or even patterned cardstock.
- If you can’t find pre-colored popsicle sticks you can purchase regular popsicle sticks and paint them before adding your pom poms. You can also choose to leave your popsicle sticks plain as well.
- The googly eyes are a favorite part to this project but you can leave them off.
Where Can I Find Colored Popsicle Sticks?
We find many of our supplies at our local Walmart or Amazon but you can often find many craft supplies at the Dollar Tree as well.
Where can I find glitter cardstock?
You can also find glitter cardstock at Walmart, Amazon or your local craft stores. I personally haven’t found glitter cardstock at the Dollar Tree but all locations are slightly different.
