Whats the best way to crush candy canes?

I have found the best way to crush candy canes for this peppermint bark is to place it in a large ziploc bag and smash with a rolling pin until desired size pieces are formed.  I have tried putting the candy canes in the food processor and while it works I find the piece to be inconsistent and sometimes a powder forms, which isn’t what you want.

Can I use milk chocolate instead of white chocolate?

You sure can! My husband actually prefers when this is made with milk chocolate wafers as the base while I love the white chocolate base.  Follow the same steps using milk chocolate for a different flavor peppermint bark.
