This Fingerprint Ant Craft for Kids is one of those simple little crafts that kids get so excited about making! I also love that this easy ant craft uses basic supplies and comes together without a lot of prep, which is always a win in my Mom book.

Materials Needed To Make A Fingerprint Ant Craft:
- White cardstock
- Brown/Kraft paper
- Green paper (light and dark green)
- Black paint – can also use a black stamp pad if desired
- Glue stick
- Scissors
- Black marker
- Red paper for ladybugs, if desired
- Optional: crayons or Tempera Paint Sticks

How To Make A Fingerprint Ant Craft
Step One: Create Your Background
- Glue a strip of brown paper along the bottom of your white cardstock to create the dirt section of your garden. You can either cut the paper or tear it – whatever you decide!
Step Two: Fingerprint the Ants
- Dip a fingertip into black paint or press it onto an ink pad. Stamp three fingerprints in a row to create each ant body.

Step Three: Draw the Ant Details
- Use a black marker to add tiny legs and antennae to each fingerprint ant. This is always my favorite part because the ants instantly come to life once the details are added!

Step Four: Add The Grass
- Cut long strips of green paper in different shades and glue them standing upright across the page to create tall garden grass. Kids can overlap some pieces to make the grass look fuller.
- If desired, use crayons or tempera paint sticks to draw extra grass details onto each strip.

Step Five: Add The Ladybugs
- Cut simple ladybug shapes from red paper and glue them onto the grass. Use a black marker to add spots and details. You can also fingeprint the head of the ladybug!

Crafty Tips
- Washable paint works best for easy cleanup
- Younger children may need help cutting the grass strips
- Let kids experiment with different fingerprint sizes for larger and smaller ants
- Add flowers, rocks, or extra insects to create an even bigger garden scene
- Use darker and lighter green paper together for more dimension
