How To Make this Terra Cotta Flower Pot Craft
Step 1: Paint Flowers on Pot
Using q-tips and craft paint, make multiple flowers on your pot. Start by adding a yellow centered dot and then add 6 colorful dots around it. Finish off by adding two green leaves. Let dry completely.

Step 2: Gather Your Flower Pieces
Print off our free flower template and cut out your needed pieces. You will need 1 yellow circle, 6 hearts (in your desired colors), and 2 green leaves.

Step 3: Build Your Paper Flower
Add a smiley face to your yellow circle. Glue your hearts around the yellow circle and glue to a popsicle stick. Add a ball of playdough to the inside of your terra cotta pot. Insert stick into playdough. Glue two leaves to the popsicle stick. Add green crinkle paper.

Crafty Tips & Classroom Use
- When doing this in my Art class I had a couple heart templates and had the students trace the hearts and cut them out themselves. This is great cutting practice!
- If you wish to make this craft a tad quicker you can pre-cut the hearts for younger children.
- Don’t have colored popsicle sticks? You can use non-painted popsicle sticks and leave them unpainted or you can color them with markers or paint them with green craft paint.
- We used playdough in the bottom of our pot to help hold the popsicle stick in place. You can also use clay or fill with stones.
- Don’t have q-tips? You can also use the bottom of a paint brush to add your dots to your floral pots. Q-tips are perfect for little fingers though!
