This Noah’s Ark Handprint Dove Craft is a fun and creative way to teach kids about God’s promise after the flood! Using simple materials and a free printable template, kids will love making their own dove with a bright rainbow tail – which was God’s promise to never flood the earth again!

The Story Behind the Craft

This craft pairs perfectly with the story of Noah’s Ark found in Genesis 8:6-12. After the floodwaters began to dry up, Noah sent out a dove to see if the land was ready. The first time, the dove found nowhere to land and returned to Noah’s ark. But later, the dove brought back an olive leaf, showing that the earth was beginning to dry. Finally, when Noah sent the dove out again, it did not return, meaning the land was ready for the people and animals on the ark to make their homes on land again!

    • Assemble the Dove: Glue the handprint wing onto the dove’s body
    • Add Details: Cut out a small triangle for the beak and glue it on. Draw an eye or use a googly eye for extra fun!

Step 3: Create the Rainbow Tail

Create the Rainbow Tail: Cut out strips of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo (darker shade of blue) and purple paper. Arrange and glue them in a fan shape to create a rainbow tail.
