Using their hands in all the above activities is a great way to develop strong pincer muscles and other fine motor skills. Another great way to learn is – crafting! This simple flower craft is sweet enough for older kids to enjoy but perfect for little hands just learning to create! This craft is centered around one of our favorite handy dandy crafting supplies – Do A Dot Markers!

How To Make a Do a Dot Flower Craft
Step 1: Make a Flower Pot
Prepare your flower pot with brown card stock or kraft card stock. You can use our free template to create your pot or you can draw and make you own! If you are using our free template, fold over the top of your pot by about 1/2 inch. This just gives the pot a little dimension and adds some fun!

Step 2: Add your Do a Dot Flowers
Place your brown pot on your paper, but don’t glue it down yet, this will just act as a guide for where you want your flowers to go. Using a yellow Do A Dot marker make your center flowers where desired by pressing your markers straight down.

Step 3: Adding Flower Petals
Using your other desired marker colors add 6 more dots around the center of your flower to complete the petals. Use your green marker and add stems. Use a green Do A Dot marker to add a leaf or two to each stem.

Step 4: Add the Final Details
Now you can glue your flower pot in place. Glue a ribbon to the top of your flower pot as an added touch of fun.

Crafty Tips & Classroom Use
- Older kids will enjoy making their own flower pot shape – let them use their imagination to make fancy vase shapes if desired! Our free template is perfect for younger crafters who are just getting used to cutting straight lines with their scissors.
- Little kids have a hard time making a bow from ribbon so adults will need to assist with making bows. You can also purchase some pre-made bows for easier crafting – just glue in place!
