HOW TO VIDEO:
Materials Needed to Make a Joy Handprint Tree Craft
- FREE JOY Template
- Green construction paper for the handprint tree
- Brown paper for the trunk
- Adhesive rhinestones for decorating the tree
- Gold glitter star (sticker or cutout) for the top of the tree
- Glue stick
- Scissors

How to Make a Joy Handprint Tree Craft
Step 1: Print the Template
- Start by printing out the “JOY” template, which includes the candy-cane-striped letters “J” and “Y.”
Step 2: Trace and Cut the Handprint
- On green construction paper, trace your child’s hand to form the “tree” shape. Carefully cut out the handprint. Alternatively you can also paint your childs hand and press onto your paper.

Step 3: Make and Attach the Trunk
- Cut a small rectangle from the brown paper to create the trunk. Glue it to the bottom of the handprint tree.
- Place the handprint tree in the center of the template, forming the “O” in JOY, and glue it in place.

Step 4: Decorate with Rhinestones and Gold Star
- Add adhesive rhinestones to the handprint tree to create “ornaments.” Arrange them however you like for a colorful, festive look!
- Place a gold glitter star at the top of the handprint tree to complete the design.

Crafty Tips:
- Use Sturdy Paper: Use thicker paper like cardstock for a more durable craft. Especially for the background piece.
- Encourage Creativity: Let kids choose their rhinestone colors and add extra glitter or stickers to personalize their tree.
- Display Proudly: Frame your JOY handprint tree or place it in a prominent spot to spread holiday cheer.
- Just Enough Mess – want to add just a touch of messy to this craft? Paint your child’s hand and then place it down on the paper. Let dry and then decorate as desired. It’s another fun way to preserve their little hands.
