How To Make A Paper Gecko Craft

Creating this craft is soooo easy and really fun! Here’s how you can make your own:

Step 1: Print Out Your Template

Start by printing out our free template and getting all your materials together!

Step 2: Add Texture and Color

With your hole punch, create multiple circles from the lime green, royal blue cardstock. These dots will add a fantastic textured look to your geckos. Glue the lime green dots onto the royal blue gecko, and the royal blue dots onto the lime green gecko. This contrast in colors will make your geckos pop!

Step 3: Give Them A Leaf!

To create a 3D effect, gently fold the feet of your geckos. Then, glue them in place on the leaves, making it look as if they’re really perched and ready to leap.

How can I make this educational?

Here are some fun facts about Geckos your kids might love to learn:

  1. Sticky Feet Superpower: Geckos have special feet that help them walk on walls and ceilings like superheroes! Their feet are covered in tiny hairs that act like magnets, keeping them stuck to surfaces.
  2. Nighttime Friends: Geckos are like nighttime ninjas – they love to come out and play when it’s dark outside. While we’re sleeping, they’re busy looking for tasty bugs to munch on and exploring their homes.
  3. Tail Tricks: When geckos get scared, they can do a magic trick with their tails! They can make their tails fall off to distract bad guys, kind of like leaving a toy behind while they sneak away.
  4. Chatty Geckos: Geckos love to talk to each other with little squeaks and chirps. They use their voices to say hello, tell stories, and even warn each other about danger.
  5. Hiding Pros: Geckos are experts at hiding. They can change colors to match their homes perfectly, so it’s hard for other animals to see them. It’s like playing the best game of hide-and-seek ever!
  6. Longtime Friends: Some geckos can be our pals for a long time, even over 10 years! With lots of love and care, they can stick around to be our buddies for a super long time.
