HOW TO VIDEO:

Supplies Needed:

  • Colored cardstock or construction paper (blue, yellow, two shades of green, black, gray)
  • Glue stick or school glue
  • Scissors
  • Coloring Utensils, colored pencils, crayons, etc.
  • “He is Risen!” Free Template

How To Make a Handprint Easter Craft

Step 1: Cut out Template Pieces

  • Using our Free Template, start by tracing your child’s hand on yellow cardstock and cut it out. Lay your yellow hand on a piece of blue paper and trace around the yellow hand, making it slightly bigger than the yellow hand. Cut out. This blue paper will act as the sky behind the sunshine hand.
  • Cut out the remaining pieces from your template, including the two stones, the cross, and the two green paper strips.
  • Color in your “HE IS RISEN” tag if you plan on using it and cut it out.

*We provide a template of a handprint shape for little ones that have a hard time tracing their hand or those that prefer not to have their hand traced.

Step 2: Make your background.

  • Glue your yellow handprint onto your blue handprint. Glue your black cross to the middle of the handprint shape.
  • Tear the top part of your green strips to give it a more texture grass look. Glue in place. Trim the excess grass off the sides of your handprint with your scissors.

Step 3: Adding the Tomb Scene

  • Lightly crumple your two stone templates in your hand, then unfold them to create added texture. Glue them in place, positioning the smaller stone off to the side to show that it has been rolled away.

Step 4: Glue to the Printable Tag

  • Print and color the “He is Risen!” tag, then glue the handprint scene above it. This adds a joyful and colorful finishing touch that ties the whole message together.

Crafting Tips:

  • Personalize their Sunrise: Encourage kids to personalize the craft with their favorite colors. For example they can use pink or orange as the background piece to look like a morning sunrise.
  • Painted Version: For an extra fun touch, paint your child’s hand with yellow paint and press it onto white paper. Once it’s dry, cut it out to create a bright and cheerful handprint sun!
  • Easter Bible Story: This craft pairs wonderfully with the Easter story from Matthew 28:6: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said!”
  • Use Foam or Felt: Swap paper for foam sheets or felt pieces to add dimension and a sensory element.
