My daughter turned one on Thanksgiving Day this past year and we celebrated with Sofia the First. My daughter has recently shown a major interest in Sofia the First, the show is extremely adorable and filled with fun music and colorful characters. My daughter squeals with glee whenever the show comes on and she runs to the tv. Celebrating her first birthday was such a bittersweet moment. That first year of my babies lives are always filled with so many emotional moments.

My mom always makes the birthday cakes in our family and I loved how this simple purple ruffle cake turned out.

We stuck with a simple dessert table for her birthday party. How sweet is that flower tissue paper number 1. It was such a pretty way to tie in all the pink and purple colors.

When hosting parties, I like to get a patterned napkin or plate and stick with a solid color for the other. This not only saves money, because solids tend to be cheaper, but it’s a fun way to have a pop of a contrast color on your table. For Addy’s party I decided to get the Sofia the First character plates with a light pink napkin.

This Sofia the First Cardboard stand up was such a fun addition to the party! It was so tall and my daughter loved it! We actually had it set up in her room for quite a few weeks after the party was over 🙂 She smiled every time she saw her.

No princess party is complete without sweet treats and these cupcakes were delicious! We added some soft pink buttercream frosting to our perfect chocolate cupcake recipe and topped them with some adorable little crowns. The Sofia The First Treat Stand was perfect for our little royal cupcakes.

Of course that Sofia the First Birthday Banner helped tie in the whole party! We don’t go all out for birthday parties but you can certainly great beautiful parties while on a budget.
