How To Make a Sunflower Craft

Step 1: Create the Sunflower Center

Use a small dessert size paper plate and trace a circle onto your white cardstock. Draw another smaller circle inside of your large circle – this will be the center of the flower. ( You can also use another household item for drawing your circle such as a small bowl)

Step Two: Make the center of your flower.

Using a cotton ball, dip it in brown paint and dab it onto the smaller circle. Fill in the entire circle with brown paint to make the sunflower’s center. Let circle dry.

Step Three: Paint the Petals.

Dip your paintbrush into yellow or orange paint. Begin at the edge of the brown center, and in one smooth motion, paint a straight line outward to the larger circle to create a petal.

Continue painting petals all the way around the brown circle, alternating between yellow and orange for a bright, cheerful look.

Step Four: Cut and Assemble

Once dry, carefully cut around the outer edge of the petals to create the sunflower shape. Cut one flower in half so you will now have one whole flower and two half flowers. Make two green leaves from your cardstock. Glue behind flower.

On a piece of light blue paper, glue the whole sunflower near the top center. This will be the main flower in your design.

Step Five: Add more Sunflowers.

Glue sunflower halves onto the light blue paper to create the appearance of more sunflowers peeking in from the edges.

From green cardstock, cut out stems for each sunflower and glue them onto the paper beneath each flower.
