Create a fun Solar System Craft with this free printable Planet Wreath! Kids will color, cut, and learn the order of the planets through hands-on play.

Easy Space Craft for Kids
If your little one is fascinated by planets, rockets, and everything outer space, they’re going to love this Solar System Craft! If your house is anything like ours, learning about space quickly turns into questions like, “Which planet is the biggest?” or “Why is Pluto not a planet anymore?” Crafts like this are one of my favorite ways to keep that curiosity growing while giving kids something fun to create.
This printable Planet Wreath is the newest addition to our growing collection of printable wreath crafts! Just like our other wreaths, kids get to color, cut, and assemble all the pieces to create a colorful decoration they can proudly display. This outer space version features planets, rockets, stars, and the sun, making it a fun way to combine creativity with learning about our amazing solar system.
Whether you’re planning a space unit, looking for a solar system craft for kids, or simply need an easy afternoon activity, this printable is sure to spark imagination, encourage conversation, and become another favorite in your printable wreath collection.

Learn the Order of the Planets
We intentionally designed the Planet Wreath so the planets can be arranged in the same order they orbit the sun if desired! This turns a simple space craft into a small learning opportunity about the planets in our solar system. The planets are arranged in this order:
- Mercury
- Venus
- Earth
- Mars
- Jupiter
- Saturn
- Uranus
- Neptune
One of my favorite things about printable crafts is finding little ways to sneak learning into the fun. In the art room, we spend a lot of time talking while we create. Whether we’re chatting about famous artists, where their favorite color lands on the color wheel or the current season we are in. Those little and sometimes hilarious conversations often become just as meaningful as the artwork itself. Sometimes the best learning happens while they’re busy coloring, cutting, and creating!

Katie’s Craft Tips
As both a mom of three and an elementary art teacher, I’ve made crafts like this with lots of little hands over the years! Here are a few of my favorite tips to help make your crafting time easier, less messy, and even more fun.

How to Make a Solar System Wreath Craft
Step One:
- Print off the Free Stars & Planet Template
- Color planets as desired.
- Cut planets out.

Step Two:
- Cut out the center of your plate.
- OPTIONAL: Paint the paper plate black before assembling your wreath. We chose to do this so any areas of the plate that peek through between the planets and stars blend into the outer space theme.

Step Three:
- Begin gluing your planets and stars to your plate. We chose to go in order from the sun.

Step Four:
- Once you like the placement of your planets you can layer the stars and rocket ships on top to complete the outer space look.
- Add a ribbon or string before your wreath for hanging.
