HOW TO VIDEO:
How To Make a Torn Paper Turkey Craft
Step 1: Cut out the Turkey Template
Prepare the Turkey Body
Use our free turkey template to begin cutting out your turkey head and face features! You can also use our turkey feather template as an easy guide for how to shape your feather sections! Just glue the torn paper inside.

Step 2: Tear, Tear and Tear!
Tear Paper for Feathers
Pick out different colors of cardstock or construction paper for the feathers. Encourage the kids to tear small pieces of each color; this adds a unique texture to the feathers and is a great fine motor activity! Set each color aside once you have enough pieces to cover a feather shape.
Glue the Feathers
Use glue to arrange and layer the torn paper pieces into your feather shapes. We used rainbow colors and went in rainbow order but any colors will work well!

Step 3: Add some Personality!
Add the Turkey’s Face
Glue the brown turkey body onto the center of the feather arrangement. Attach two googly eyes, an orange triangle for the beak, and a red squiggly piece for the wattle. The googly eyes are the kids favorite part! We used two different sizes but feel free to use what sizes you have or your kids can even draw their own eyes!

Crafty Tips:
- Pre-cut or Pre-tear: For younger kids, you may want to pre-tear the paper into smaller pieces for easier gluing.
- Add Sparkle: Try using glitter paper for some of the feathers!
- Story Time: While crafting, talk about the meaning of Thanksgiving and let kids share what they’re thankful for.
This Torn Paper Turkey Craft is a wonderful way to keep little hands busy and celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving. It’s easy enough for toddlers but engaging enough for older kids to enjoy too. Happy crafting!
