How to Make Watercolor Tulips
Step One:
- Start by dividing your watercolor paper into sections. Use oil pastels to draw different patterns in each section—lines, squiggles, dots, or waves. You will want your top two sections to be whatever you want your flowers to be. You will need a small section for your pink cheeks and a larger section to make your leaves.

Step Two:
- Paint over each section with watercolor. The oil pastel will resist the paint, making your designs show through. We chose to match the watercolor color to whatever our design colors were. Let everything dry completely.

Step Three:
- Make your background piece the same way as you did your flower pieces.
- Cut your background watercolor paper into thirds.
- Glue onto white paper and trim around the edges for a small border.

Step Four:
- Using our free watercolor tulips template cut out your tulip pieces. You will need two leaves, two cheeks, one flower, and one stem per flower that you plan to make.

Step Five:
- Glue your flower pieces onto your blue pieces.
- Add googly eyes and your pink cheeks.
- Add a smiley face with a black sharpie.
