  • Glue or glue stick
  • Monster Eyes and Mouth Printable
  • Black marker

How To Make a Fork Painted Monsters

Step 1: Cut out your Monster Shape

  • Start by cutting out a simple circle shape from white cardstock. Use a dessert paper plate to lightly trace around a circle onto a piece of white cardstock. This will be the base of your monster. It doesn’t have to be perfect—monsters come in all shapes and sizes!

Step 2: Paint with a Fork

  • Dip a plastic fork into paint and press it onto the paper in an outward motion into your traced circle, creating a fun, spiky fur texture. Keep going around the entire circle until your monster is covered in colorful spikes! Let the paint dry.

Step 3: Draw Arms & Legs

  • Use a black Sharpie marker to draw funny arms and legs—make them wiggly, jumping, or dancing for extra personality.

Step 4: Add Eyes and a Mouth

  • Print and cut out the free monster eyes and mouth templates (or let kids create their own with markers!). Glue them onto the monster’s face.
  • Cut around monster shape leaving a small white around the monster shape – we call this a sticker cut.

Crafty Tips:

  • Prep in Advance: Cut out the monster eyes and mouths beforehand, so little hands can jump right into painting and pasting.
  • Faster Drying: to speed up the drying process grab a hair blow dryer and blow warm air on it until dry.
  • Use Paper Plates: Instead of cardstock, try painting directly on paper plates for a sturdy, ready-made monster shape.
  • Try Different Shapes: try making different shaped monsters! You can make square, triangle, hearts and more!
  • Less Mess & Easy Clean Up: Place a piece of brown kraft paper or parchment paper onto your surface for easy clean up.
