I love cake stands. I have white ones, pink ones, large ones and mini ones. They are great photo props but they also add a fun pop of classiness to your everyday gatherings. I love to use cake stands to add different heights to our party buffets. You can use cake stands for cakes, cupcakes, cookies, chocolate covered strawberries and other decadent desserts. During one of mine and my husbands date night I was walking around Hobby Lobby and found this clear plastic cake stand in the party section. I immediately started thinking of ways to dress it up. I turned the corner and found some packs of tissue paper and tissue paper confetti. Boom. Lightbulb 🙂 I just love how this diy confetti cake stand turned out! I already have plans to use it for my daughters first birthday which may or may not be 6 months away! HA!
This craft uses a minimal amount of supplies and you can personalize this many ways! I personally used one of my favorite Mod Podge® products, Extreme Glitter! Friends, if you love glitter or sparkle as much as I do I suggest picking yourself up a container of this Mod Podge. It’s so pretty and perfect for any girly projects!
Supplies:
- Mod Podge, Extreme Glitter or whatever your prefer
- Tissue Paper Confetti, you can also use a circle punch to create your own
- Clear plastic cake stand, I found mine at Hobby Lobby in the party section
- Brush
DIRECTIONS:
Remove the stand from the plate of your cake stand, if possible. If you can’t remove it that’s fine. Brush on a light layer of Mod Podge on the bottom side of your cake stand.
Lay your tissue paper confetti down and lightly press to adhere to the Mod Podge. Continue layering tissue paper confetti until your desired look is met. You can fully cover your cake stand as I did or have more space in between your confetti pieces. It’s entirely up to you. Carefully brush on another layer of Mod Podge.
Following the directions of your specific Mod Podge, allow to dry completely before using. Only hand wash the top of your cake stand when needed. 🙂
It’s totally normal for there to be some white splotches of Mod Podge on your project. I promise they will go away once fully dried and all that glorious glitter will shine through!
What are some fun ways you would use Mod Podge Extreme Glitter?
