How To Make a Pumpkin Printable Craft
Step 1: Download and Print the Template:
- Start by downloading our free “I Am Thankful for YOU!” printable template. Print it on white cardstock for a sturdy base.

Step 2: Create the Pumpkin Handprint:
- Trace your child’s hand onto a piece of orange cardstock paper. Cut out the handprint shape—this will be the pumpkin. For an alternative, you can also paint your childs hand orange and press it directly onto the paper if desired!
- Cut a small rectangle from brown cardstock paper to form the pumpkin stem.
- Use green cardstock paper to cut out a leaf shape.

Step 3: Assemble the Pumpkin:
- Glue the stem to the top of the handprint.
- Attach the green leaf to the side of the stem, giving it that classic pumpkin look. You can add some line work to your leaf if desired.
- Glue your pumpking between the letters “Y” and “U”.

Step 4: Add some Personality:
- Glue the googly eyes onto the handprint, near the top but below the stem.
- Draw a sweet, simple smile or smirk using a black marker to complete the pumpkin’s face.

And there you have it! A heartwarming, handmade craft that expresses your child’s gratitude in the most personal way.
Crafty Tips:
- Instead of tracing your childs hand onto orange cardstock you can paint your child’s hand orange and press into the middle of the paper for a painted handprint pumpkin craft.
- Let kids create their own expressions on the pumpkin! They can swap out a simple smirk for a full smile, a smile with teeth and more!
- For another fun addition, have your child write what they are thankful for or love about the person they plan to give their artwork to! It’s a fun way to personalize it and make it unique to them!
