Margherita Pizza: a delicious homemade pizza full of flavor! Fresh tomatoes and basil are the key ingredients to this delicious and simple pizza recipe.
Sprinkle yeast over warm water. Stir in sugar and let stand for 5 minutes.
Combine together cold water, oil, salt, garlic salt, oregano and ½ flour. Add to yeast mixture. Add rest of flour. Knead by hand or in mixer until smooth, roughly 3-5 minutes.
Rise until it doubles about 1- 1 1/2 hours.
Marghertia Pizza
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. Place pizza stone in oven while it’s preheating.
In a medium bowl combine olive oil and minced garlic. Add tomato slices and let tomatoes marinate for 15 minutes.
Begin to roll out pizza dough on counter or pizza peel. If using a pizza peel you can prepare the pizza fully on the peel and then transfer to the hot pizza stone. If no pizza peel is available slightly rolll out your pizza dough on the counter.
Carefully transfer to hot pizza stone (that is sprinkled lightly with cornmeal) Finishing rolling out dough working quickly as the dough will begin to bake immediately and be mindful that the pizza pan is very hot.
Brush dough with the olive oil/garlic mixture. Sprinkle cheeses evenly all over the top of dough. Place tomato slices evenly over the cheese.
Sprinkle the torn basil leaves evenly over the top.
Bake pizza in preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until edges of pizza are nice and golden brown. Remove pizza from oven. Let stand 5 minutes before slicing. Serve and enjoy!
