Triple Berry Crisp

Desserts that center around juicy berries are my favorite and what I will choose over chocolate any day, I know, call me crazy. 🙂  This triple berry crisp is just another yummy dessert added to our arsenal of sweet treats like our very berry dump cake, and triple berry pie. This triple berry crisp is a berry packed dessert and topped with a crunchy and sweet oat topping.  It’s just as easy to put together as our mini triple berry pies and equally delicious!

How to make Triple Berry Crisp

Oat Crumble: In a small food processor pulse sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and butter until it resembles coarse crumbs.  With a wooden spoon mix in rolled oats. I like my oats to stay their size without getting blended down with the other ingredients.

Triple Berry Layer: fresh, or frozen berries are mixed together with flour, sugar, salt, lemon juice and vanilla extract. The mixture is then poured into a 9X9 in baking pan.

Bake: Once you add your berry layer and oat crumble in a pan you will bake in the oven until golden and bubbly, about 30-40 minutes.

Can I use frozen berries?

Yes! You can easily swap out the fresh berries for the frozen berries and it’s great option when fresh berries aren’t in season. You may need to adjust your baking time and increase it by 10 minutes to ensure the berries are cooked through. I recommend keeping the berries frozen just until needed to prevent any extra moisture.

What kind of oats should I use?

Any oats will work just fine in this triple berry crisp but I prefer old fashioned oats or rolled oats. Quick oats don’t have as much texture as the larger oats.  It’s also the reason I don’t pulse my oats in the blender. The more texture the better. 🙂
