Poppy Seed Bread

There are only a few things that can be baking in the kitchen that smells better than homemade bread, in my opinion.  Whether the bread is of a yeast variety like our honey white loaves or something sweet like our blueberry banana zucchini bread it no doubts fills the house will a delicious aroma.  This poppy seed bread is just another flavorful bread that makes the house smell amazing and tastes just as good as it smells.  This recipe makes 2 loaves which is great for larger families or for enjoying one right away and freezing the other for later.  It also makes a great treat to wrap and send to the neighbors or loved ones.

SWEET GLAZE

While most sweet bread don’t need any additional confections the glaze on this sweet bread is a must!  It’s adds the perfectly amount of sweetness to the tops of the bread and even seeps into the sides and top giving the bread an even deeper depth of flavor.   Orange juice is a “secret” ingredient in this bread glaze. It’s adds a great punch of flavor to the bread that pairs perfectly with the almond and vanilla extracts.  Some other ingredients needed for the glaze are:

  • Orange Juice
  • vanilla & almond extract
  • butter flavored extract, optional but adds a great touch
  • confectioners sugar
