I found my pom poms and ribbon at Hobby Lobby. They are 1/4-inch-sized pom poms. Feel free to use ANY colors you would like. My daughter and I just really liked this color combination.

I found my plastic ornaments at Dollar Tree (2 for $1), but I’m sure Walmart, Target, and other stores also have them. You can usually find them at craft stores as well. They are fairly cheap and easy to use.

How to Make Pom Pom Ornaments

Making these pom pom ornaments is SUPER simple. All you have to do is follow these instructions.

  1. Take the metal cap off the ornament and put your pom poms inside. Fill it in as much or as little as you would like.
  2. Replace the metal cap and tie a ribbon bow around it.

That’s it. You’re done! See, simple!

If you want to customize the ornaments, use a Sharpie marker or paint pens to write on the ornaments. Add each child’s name and the date or year so you have it as a keepsake. I often let the kids write their names and date to customize it even more. Colorful paint pens will bring even more color to your tree.

These look great on a fake or real tree. They add great color and character to your holiday decorations and are so much fun to make.

Can I Glue Pom Poms to the Outside of the Ornament?

If you don’t want to fill the ornament with pom poms, you can also hot glue them to the outside. Let kids place them in any arrangement they want or create a fun pattern that wraps around the plastic globe.
