I had the chance to head back to Atlanta, Georgia earlier this summer for our second annual Plaid Creators Summit where we learned about all the new products and fun things Plaid was coming out with this year. One of their new products is a fun Bucilla RyaTie™  set of 2 tools which includes both the small & large RyaTie tools.  It also comes with a 24 page instruction booklet featuring 6 projects!  Do you remember those latch hook projects…this is a fun and modern way to achieve the same look with projects you can customize!

You can find this Rya-Tie set and the pretty yarn I used in this project at select Hobby Lobby stores and you can visit PLAID ONLINE for more information.

Directions for Pom Pom Ballerina Fairy:

Being by painting your cylinder shape wooden beads in your desired colors.

You will then use your Rya-Tie tool kit to create the bundles/pom poms you will need for the dress part of your ballerina.  I loved used this bundle maker. I was able to make four little bundles at one time!  I used the smaller tool for these little girls.  When making your bundles make sure you beginning horizontal pieces are at least 10-12 inches long. This will allow you to have plenty of extra for looping through the beads and tying it off at the end.

Once you created your little RyaTie bundle, thread it through the wooden body bead.  I put a piece of scotch tape around the ends of my yarn so they would go through the bead a bit easier.

Paint hair on the top of the circle bead. I went all around the bead leaving a small area for a face.  I then used a permanent marker to create the eyes.  For one of the girls the eyes were closed.  The other ballerina fairy I drew on two black eyes and then used the tip of a pencil to dot on a small amount of white paint  Either way is super cute!

Once the face is dry you can string the yarn through the head of the ballerina fairy.  Once I had all three pieces together- the bundle, body bead, and the head- I actually used a little bit of hot glue to glue them together.  Then you can hot glue on a tiny little bow and fairy wings and she is set to go!

Since the pieces are hot glued together you can either cut off the string at the top and place on a bookshelf or you can tie the two strings together and hang it on knob or use it as an ornament.

I love how these little ballerina fairies came together. Such a fun way to use those soft RyaTie bundles and they make great gifts too!  Bucilla also has these fun Weaving Looms where you can create these fun wall projects too

    1. Hi there! Depending on the size of your beads they may be smaller or larger but mine were about 4 inches in length from the top of the head to the bottom of the pom pom 🙂
