I came up with this idea because my kids needed a simple way to pass out Halloween treats to their peers. It seemed like the simplest and cutest way to share their favorite candy bars without it being too spooky. Now they are a family staple for fall and Halloween! It’s a great idea to spend family time together decorating gift bags and to give the kids purpose when they give gifts.

How to Make Mini Ghost Treat Bags

Are you ready for these super simple steps? Here we go:

1. First, draw your ghost faces onto the front side of the treat bags using a black marker. Add highlights to the eyes with your white paint pen.
2. Next, add your candy bars and sweet treats to the bag.
3. Last, add tissue paper to hide the candy inside.

If you don’t want to use purple tissue paper, use any Halloween-colored paper you want! You’ll be able to find tons of variety at the craft store or Dollar Store.

When drawing your ghost faces, use my pictures for inspiration or create your own ideas! I like to add their rosy pink cheeks to make them friendly ghosts, but decorate them any way you would like. The faces can also go on BOTH sides of the paper bag if you wish, no need to just decorate one side of the paper bags.

When would I need a mini ghost treat bag?

There are so many ways these mini treat bags can be used, but here are a few that come to mind:

Decorate a Tote Bag

If you are an avid bag carrier like myself, you can apply this ghost technique to a white tote bag. Many craft stores carry plain canvas bags that are meant to be decorated. Use your sharpie or some black paint to make a ghost tote bag to use during the month of October. These double as great trick-or-treat bags for the kids to carry on Halloween night as well.

• White treat bags – I found mine at Hobby Lobby but they are at most craft stores, supercenters, and even the Dollar Tree
• Black and White Paint Pens
• Small Pink Buttons
• Mini Candy Bars or your favorite candy treats
• Purple Tissue Paper
