EASY CAPRESE SALAD
This recipe is one of my favorite dishes to enjoy during the summer months but it’s delicious all year round! This recipe is so easy to throw together which makes it great for a weeknight side dish, to bring to a potluck dinner, or to whip together for a last minute evening with friends.
Some of our other favorite summer dishes are:
INGREDIENTS NEEDED FOR CAPRESE SALAD
- Fresh Mozzarella Cheese
- Tomatos, I prefer Roma or Heirloom but any slicing tomato works
- Fresh Basil Leaves
- Salt & Pepper
- Olive Oil
- Balsamic Glaze
How to Make Caprese Salad:
- Start by layering slices of tomatoes on a serving platter. Tuck slices of mozzarella cheese between each tomato. Tuck whole basil leaves between the cheese and tomatoes. Arrange the slices so you can see every layer for the prettiest presentation.
- RIGHT BEFORE SERVING: Season generously with salt and pepper, drizzle with extra virgin olive oil, and drizzle balsamic glaze on top.
ADD A TOASTED BAGUETTE
Caprese Salad is delicious the way that it’s served but sometimes we like to take it up a notch and serve it with some toasted baguette slices. This makes it a little heartier and who doesn’t love bread? 🙂
Can I Omit the Balsamic Glaze?
You CAN omit the balsamic glaze and season with only salt, pepper, and a good extra virgin olive oil but we love the tangy-ness the balsamic glaze adds.
