Christmas Puppy Chow: a delicious blend of the classic puppy chow recipe, with bits of festive chocolate, and peppermint coated pretzels. A fun treat to serve at all your holiday parties.

Christmas Puppy Chow

Every Christmas season we host a few holiday parties that are typically centered around yummy food and delicious treats. This Christmas puppy chow is a yummy treat that serves a small crowd and is festive for all your holiday parties or to even bring to a cookie exchange.  It’s a great dessert option to serve along a candy cane cherry danish or some classic gingerbread men cookies.

Yummy Treat. Perfect Gift.

I love making large treats that can be enjoyed by family and friends.  This puppy chow recipe makes a perfect gift idea.  Place some of your festive puppy chow in a small mason jar or clear treat bags–tie with a pretty ribbon and a gift tag.

How to make Christmas Puppy Chow

  1. Pour your Chex Mix cereal into a large mixing bowl, set aside.
  2. Place your chocolate chips and peanut butter in a small bowl and melt in the microwave at 30 second increments.  You can add a touch of canola oil if needed to help smooth the mixture.
  3. Add vanilla extract slowly to melted chocolate sauce.
  4. Pour chocolate sauce over cereal and mix until all cereal is covered.
  5. Transfer cereal to a large gallon size bag with powdered sugar and shake until all the cereal is covered.
  6. Pour on a Silpat or parchment covered baking sheet and allow to cool if needed.
  7. Place a single layer of pretzels on a baking sheet.
  8. Melt white chocolate according to package.  Drizzle over pretzels and top with crushed candy canes. Allow to cool.
  9. Place prepared puppy chow in a large bowl and add peppermint coated pretzels, regular pretzels, and festive M&M’s. Mix and serve.
